Department of Automotive Engineering

                        

 

 

1.     Overview

The history of the department can be traced back to 1932, when the study of automotive engineering began within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The Department of Automotive Engineering became an independent department in 1980. Over the past several decades, the Department of Automotive Engineering has secured its leading position in higher education and in China’s automotive industry and made it a center of automotive technology research and development in China. The department seeks to advance science and technology in the automobile industry through integration of fundamental professional knowledge and its application in automobile engineering. The department currently has 80 faculty and staff members, including 25 professors and 29 associate professors.

2.     How to Apply

 

l  Qualification of Applicants

        Master’s programs applicants should have a Bachelor degree or equivalent. Doctoral programs applicants should have a master’s degree or equivalent.

 

l  Application Documents

        Please upload all the listed documents below to the application system:

(1)    Personal statement (at least two pages). Doctoral programs applicants also need to submit a brief introduction of research experience.

(2)    The original or the notarized degree certificate. Master’s programs applicants should submit a bachelor’s degree certificate. Doctoral programs applicants should submit both master’s and bachelor’s degree certificates. Those who have not graduated yet must provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by current academic institution.

(3)    Academic transcript. Master’s programs applicants should submit an academic transcript of undergraduate study. Doctoral programs applicants should submit academic transcripts of both graduate and undergraduate studies.

(4)    Language Requirement

English Proficiency Requirement for English program: Non-native English speakers should provide either GRE, TOEFL or IELTS scores.

Chinese Proficiency Requirement for applicants of Chinese programs: HSK band 4—with a score of 195 or above.

(5)    Two online academic recommendation letters from scholars who have the title of associate professor or higher, or senior professionals in a related academic field. Please follow system instructions for submission of online recommendation letters.

(6)    Passport personal information page (personal and ordinary passport).

 

l  Application Procedure

(1)    Online Application: Complete Online Application on the website of International Students Admission, Tsinghua University (http://gradadmission.tsinghua.edu.cn/). Don’t forget to pay the application fee online after submitting application. For scholarship application documents, please refer to the “Tuition and Scholarship” part below.

(2)    Materials Selection: The admission committee will review the application documents and select applicants for further interview. The applicants selected will be notified by phone or E-mail.

(3)    Interview: The admission committee will have a 20-minutes interview for each applicants selected.  Admission will be based on scores applicants receive in both the materials selection and the interview.

(4)    Admission: Applicants may check admission status via the On-line Application System on the website of International Students Office in April.

        November 1, 2018 —— February 28, 2019

        Online Application should be completed by February 28, 2019.

 

l  Tuition and Scholarship

        Tuition: RMB 39,000/year.

        Accidental Injury and Hospitalization Insurance: RMB 800/year.
