Overview

The Department of Automotive Engineering undertakes scientific research on 3 themes: automotive safety, energy conservation, and environmental protection, with a focus on 2 technological revolutions - automotive electronics and new power. Determining to meet industrial needs and aiming at the international forefront of the field, we have carried out prospective, basic and original research by combining theory with practice, promoting interdisciplinary studies and integrated innovation. We have produced numerous important scientific and technological achievements, and have long been in support of the development and technological progress of Chinese automotive industry.

In the recent years, in order to create a better academic atmosphere, DAE has considerately strengthened the construction of the academic communication platform, such as academic saloon, not only to promote the academic communication among the teachers in our department, but also to provide opportunities for the teachers to communicate with many top experts from home and abroad.

In the past fifteen years, we have made great progress in scientific and technological research. Altogether, we have accomplished 19 national scientific and technical key projects, 62 National ‘863’ Programs, 4 National ‘973’ Programs, 44 projects sponsored by Natural Science Fund of China, 64 National Defense Projects, 63 provincial and ministerial vital projects, and 156 international cooperation projects. Besides, we have carried out lots of other projects in cooperation with many enterprises. By now, we have won 60 technological rewards, including 3 National Award for Technological Invention (second prize), 1 National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress (second prize), and lots of provincial and industrial science and technology progress awards (14 of first and second prize). We have published more than 1200 papers in the domestic core journals, more than 400 in foreign periodicals, including 230 SCI retrieval papers, 770 EI retrieval papers, and more than 120 authorized invention patents.
